About Nancy and Zach – Full-Time Roadside Adventures

We’re Nancy and Zach. We live full-time in a converted school bus with 3 dogs and 6 cats, in about 200 square feet, and we spend most of our time finding the giant, weird, and slightly questionable things most people drive right past.
We mostly bounce between Florida, Arkansas, and Michigan, with detours for anything weird enough to justify one.
How We Ended Up Here
We met in January 2022 at a mutual friend’s house, where Zach was staying in his skoolie before an event. We went to the event together, and by March 28 we were headed to Michigan. Zach in the bus. Nancy following in her SUV.
That lasted until we realized we were paying for gas twice to travel “together.” Zach built Nancy a seat in the bus, which meant she had to downsize again. She’d already gone from a 2,800+ square foot house to one SUV. Now she got one dresser drawer and one under-bed tote.
She doesn’t miss any of it. Except her lemon zester.
The first month was rough. Bad stays, a lot of noise, cats that weren’t safe outside, and two people trying to fit two whole lives into one bus. It worked out. It just didn’t start out cute.
Later, we got so wrapped up in everyone else’s schedules that we forgot whose life this was. So we hit pause and started fresh. That’s our relaunch story.
Nancy

Rendered in socks. That should explain a lot.
Nancy finds the weird stuff, takes all the photos, writes everything, and runs the socials. She plans every stop in detail, then happily drops the plan when something better shows up.
She spent 13 years in St. Augustine before the bus. She bakes constantly (she once kept an entire week of electric unicycle riders fed), can’t pass a thrift store or plant nursery, and is half the reason there are 100+ plants hanging off belts all over the bus. If a diner has a weird menu or a snack has a backstory, she’s ordering it.
Zach

Calibrated for chaos—proceed with caution.
Zach keeps the bus running. He drives, builds, and fixes. He’s the one who built Nancy’s seat, the curtains, the bed that lifts up over the driver’s seat, and the catio that lets the cats outside safely.
He rides an EUC (electric unicycle) and a pedal unicycle, knits hats, scarves, and dog sweaters, and owns the Hoya half of the plant collection. His favorite color is orange, which explains the bus.
