Let the Road Trip Pitstops .. Begin
🚐 We were northbound, dodging heavy rainclouds and running on gas station snacks, 80’s playlists, and a half-packed bus with questionable organization. 🎶⛅

This is a quick recap of the quirky pitstops we made during our wild ride from Florida through the Carolinas. We didn’t pack the trip full of sightseeing this time, but we snagged a few golden nuggets along the way—worth every detour and every reloaded ice pack.
📍 The Journey Begins
Last time we checked in, we were marveling at the World’s Largest Frying Pan—an absolute legend of a kitchen relic. From there, we looped back down to St. Augustine, Florida for one last hug and laugh with my kids before we rolled north.
The journey included four rapid-fire stops between Florida and North Carolina. Each one was a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it treasure, packed with kitsch, chaos, and exactly the kind of weirdness we love.
🗺️ Our Fast & Quirky Road Trip Pitstops
🌳 Old Methuselah Tree – DeLeon Springs State Park, FL Ancient, mossy, and dramatic in the best way. Felt like it whispered forest secrets we were never meant to hear.
🧝♂️ Holly Hill Gnome Tree – Holly Hill, FL Totally random and absolutely worth the stop. A cluster of gnomes tucked away in someone’s yard like a secret society with ceramic passports.
🛍️ South of the Border – Dillon, SC Neon chaos. Retro fever dream. We pulled over for the absurdity and stayed for the hot dog-shaped building and confused lizard statue.
🥊 Angus Barn Kicking Booth – Raleigh, NC If you’ve never seen a rage booth outside a fine-dining steakhouse, you haven’t lived. 10/10, would kick again.
🛬 And Then Life Happened…
Midway through, a rib re-injury knocked the wind out of the fun (literally), and sightseeing went from spontaneous to survival mode. We made a straight shot north after that, prioritizing breath over bravado.
Once we landed, things slowed. Appointments were made. Movement got minimal. I channeled my energy into updating blog pages and quietly mapping future chaos.
⚡ Why This Post Is Short & Sweet
Healing sucks. Having to re-heal sucks louder. I lost a ton of time, both writing and moving, but I gained focus on organizing our travel chaos so future posts are easier to find, easier to navigate, and way more you-shaped.
