Mississippi brings Southern Gothic charm—giant rocking chairs, Gone with the Wind-themed restaurants, and hauntingly beautiful plantation ruins. Some of these we’ve visited, others are still on our list. When we’ve been somewhere, the link takes you to our photo page with details and snark. Otherwise, you’ll head to their official site (assuming one exists—sometimes that’s half the adventure).
Things To Do in Mississippi
Gulfport
World’s (Former?) Largest Wooden Rocking Chair – Part of the Battle of the Biggest Chairs. Located at 11451 Canal Road. Casey, Illinois now claims the title with a 56-foot chair, making this one potentially the second largest.
Natchez
Mammy’s Cupboard – Restaurant shaped like a Gone with the Wind character.
Port Gibson
Windsor Ruins – Hauntingly beautiful remains of an antebellum mansion destroyed by fire.
