Blues Brothers Statue – Weird Roadside Stop in Stedman, NC

Statues of Jake and Elwood Blues from The Blues Brothers, dressed in black suits, sunglasses, and black hats, standing in front of a chain-link fence. Jake is posed adjusting his tie, while Elwood strikes a mid-dance stance. Behind them, Zach stands playfully in the background, partially visible through the fence, adding an extra layer of personality to the scene. Captured outdoors in Stedman, NC.

Blues Brothers Statue – Stedman, NC

📍 175 East 1st Street, Stedman, NC

Right off the road in Stedman, NC — a town you’d blow right through if you didn’t know to stop — there are two guys in black suits, black hats, and sunglasses standing behind a chain-link fence. Jake and Elwood. Just hanging out. Waiting.

The Blues Brothers statues were placed by a former mayor who clearly had excellent taste. The chain-link fence came later — either to stop vandals or to prevent Jake and Elwood from completing their Mission from God. We’re going with Mission Prevention. 😆

The statues could use a little TLC, but they’re exactly the kind of weird, wonderful, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it stop that makes road tripping worth it. We pulled over, took our pictures, Zach photobombed from behind the fence, and we were back on the road in fifteen minutes. Perfect.

💡 Fun Fact: The Blues Brothers started as a Saturday Night Live sketch before becoming a cult classic. Their mission in the movie was to save the orphanage where they grew up. In Stedman, their mission appears to be standing very still behind a fence. Close enough.

🚌 Big Rig & Pet Logistics

🚛 Big Rig Status: Tight squeeze — Street is narrow, oncoming traffic will have to wait. The parking lot behind the statues could work for a quick photo if it’s empty.

🛠️ Driver’s Note: Scout the lot behind the statues first before committing to the turn. If there are cars parked at the nearby Peddlers Attic shop, keep driving.

🐾 Pet Policy: Outdoor location — bring whoever you want. It’s a public street.
