Our Full-Time Travel Adventures Begin Here

Welcome to Right at the Light—Your Gateway to Full-Time Travel Adventures

Welcome to Right at the Light—our small corner of the road where quirks, outgrown myths, and nine furry copilots meet in grand full-time travel adventures. Thanks for visiting. Happy wandering.Converted orange bus for full-time travel adventures parked by a still lake, autumn trees mirrored in the water.

Join us as we tour the country in our fully converted bus, living full-time nomadic lifestyle experiences that combine the weird, the wonderful, and the plain bizarre. Every mile is a discovery, whether of a roadside attraction that defies explanation or a hidden treasure in some small town.

We’ve learned in our experience of life on a bus that the best adventures happen when you’re receptive to what is unknown and interested in the world about you.

Coast to coast, we’ve discovered America is packed with incredible stories just waiting to be uncovered. Whether we’re uncovering quirky attractions, meeting unusual people, or simply enjoying the liberty of open road, each day holds new promise for exploration and adventure.

Uncovering Roadside Wonders, Hidden Gems & Mobile Life AdventuresA person stands inside the World's Largest Cast Iron Skillet, which has a painted egg at the bottom. The skillet measures 12 feet in diameter, 18 feet in length, and 2.5 feet in depth. A sign in the background displays these dimensions, alongside text reading 'The Big, Weird List.' A cartoon chicken with 'CLICK ME' is visible in the top right corner, adding a playful touch to the scene

From monster frying pans to quirky museums and roadside attractions that beg an explanation—we’re in pursuit of roadside oddities and obscure gems that cause us pause.

There are those that are just plain weird, some that are old landmarks we’d forgotten about, and others with tales to tell. If it makes us question how it was constructed, why it stands, or who came up with the crazy idea in the first place—then we need to go see it.

Our quest for quirky attractions has taken us to some genuinely amazing places. We’ve visited the world’s largest ball of twine, walked under giant concrete dinosaurs, and stared at folk art buildings that showcase the sheer brilliance of American roadside heritage.

These aren’t traps for tourists—they’re peepholes into the imagination and heart of the people who created them.

Traveling with Our Furry Crew

Black and white cat with yellow eyes lying on a wooden surface, looking at the camera. A green speech bubble in the top right corner says 'PAW HERE.' Below the cat, yellow text reads 'It's All About The Pets.'

Constant traveling with two dogs and eight cats means never a dull moment. (Yes, eight. The newest member joined us unexpectedly — and claimed a window seat right away.)

No matter whether they’re joining us for strolls, sitting in every seat on the bus, or sparking giggles of bedlam, our furry crew livens life on the move.

Pet travel requires some added planning, but the companionship and laughter they provide are worth every hiccup.

Every single day it is something different, whether that’s how to get everyone snugly in the bus, how to keep up with their seemingly limitless energy, or how to make sure all of them receive the attention they deserve.

From spontaneous zoomies to unexpected detours for pet-friendly stops, days on the road with our furry crew are anything but routine.

We’ve learned to juggle adventure with regular life—finding the most pet-friendly spots, honing the art of living tiny, and navigating the surprise life changes that come with bus life.

Our pets have even learned how to travel, with each having their own opinion on what makes a best view and favorite nap spot in the bus.

Essential Resources for TravelersA colorful graphic with the words 'Road Trip Resources' at the center. Surrounding the text are various illustrated icons representing travel and exploration, including a hiker, bicycle, bus, castle, camera, sailboat, tree, plant, dog, cat, statue, and sword marked 'ENTER.' The background is green, adding a vibrant and adventurous feel. The image is designed to visually showcase road trip-related elements in an engaging way.

Planning your next trip? Whether you’re a lifelong traveler or a weekend wanderer, having the right resources on hand can be the game changer.

From frugal travel hacks to must-have gear recommendations, we’ve rounded up the best tools to help guide you down the path ahead—including some of our favorite overnight stops through Harvest Hosts.

We’ve learned along the way about incredible resources that have expanded our travel process. From camping site applications that cost no money to websites that match overnight stays with travelers, the proper gear can make the world a feasible destination.

We’ve also learned the importance of creating good backup plans and emergency resources when things do not go as planned.

Hidden Gems From Our Road Trip Adventures

Two tiny adventurers soaking up some love—literally—under a giant 'LOVE' sculpture, with 'Follow Along!' cheering them on.

We also like to get off the main path of roadside oddities. Unusual attractions are a large part of ouradventure, certainly, but we like equal doses of excitement off the highway in the great outdoors and offbeat experiences.

National parks, state parks, and hidden swimming holes have been among the most memorable road trip experiences.

Hiking trails see us making our way through breathtaking views, with a chance to disconnect and soak in the beauty of nature.

Whether gliding on her e-bike as Nancy, riding his EUC or unicycle as Zach, we ride along—making our way down scenic routes, hidden paths, and all of the quirky stops along the way.

It’s purely about finding adventure shoulder to shoulder, whether it’s with one wheel or none.

Every trip adds a new element to our travels, so every destination is not only someplace—it’s a story unfolding.

From witnessing the dawn break over distant wilderness horizonlines to unexpected encounters with fellow travelers, every experience reminds us why we chose this lifestyle.

Cooking and Food Adventures

And when we’re not on the road, you can find us indulging in some good grub—from stalking out quirky restaurants to attempting recipes that we’ve learned through traveling.

Food is not only sustenance for the journey—it’s an experience, a bridge to the destinations we visit, and a way of infusing a bit of comfort into life on the move.

Cooking is such a big part of our journey, whether we’re perfecting a campfire meal, testing out new flavors in our tiny kitchen, or marathoning baking shows to spark our next test kitchen experiment.

From roadside diners with famous menu items to hidden gems creating innovative flavors, every bite adds to the journey—especially when we come across a birthday bonus or surprise discount along the route.

Local food is a truer indication of an area than any guidebook. We’ve discovered local specialties, family restaurants that have been cooking the same foods for generations, and gourmet food trucks in the unlikeliest of locations.

Stretching the BudgetA festive birthday-themed graphic featuring a variety of colorful foods on an orange background with confetti. The centerpiece is a bold red 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY' card surrounded by celebratory decorations. Scattered around are an ice cream cone, pizza slices, donuts, a cheeseburger, a sandwich, and a croissant, all adding to the party atmosphere. In the bottom left corner, 'PARTY STARTS HERE' is written in playful candle-style letters, enhancing the excitement of the design.

Each location we go to has a tale to tell, but full-time travel adventures are not all about tales—there’s also keeping it going.

We’ve learned how to stretch a buck without sacrificing on adventure and know how to save money without missing out on everything the road has to offer.

From discovering free campsites, taking advantage of local specials, or cooking wonderful meals on the cheap, we’ve learned how to make travel an affordable investment.

A green background featuring elements related to saving money and enjoying life. The central text reads 'SPEND LESS, ENJOY MORE.' Surrounding it are visuals including two 'COUPON 50% OFF' vouchers, a pair of scissors, a smartphone with app icons, a plate of grilled food and vegetables, a small container of almonds, and a yellow bus traveling on a winding road with mountains in the distance. The image conveys a theme of budgeting wisely while still indulging in enjoyable experiences.

Budget travel doesn’t have to mean forgoing experiences. We’ve discovered that some of the most memorable experiences cost nothing—a sunset from a mountain overlook, strolling through a turn-of-the-last-century downtown district, or sitting with travelers trading yarns by a campfire.

The secret is knowing where to find bargains and staying flexible.

Behind the OdditiesTwo life-sized cardboard cutouts dressed in traditional Mexican attire—one of a man in a blue charro suit and sombrero holding a guitar, and one of a woman in a colorful dress and shawl—stand indoors against a mural featuring a masked wrestler in a blue mask. The setting appears festive and cultural. Another aspect of Full-Time Travel Adventures!

We love to dive deeper—uncovering the legends of unusual landmarks, learning about their creators, and finding buried treasures along the way.

There’s a story behind each place, and we’re never disappointed to piece them together between history, mystery, and the people who brought these places to life.

Whether you’re a full-time traveler, a weekend wanderer, or just passing through to check out the bizarre roadside attractions, we’ve got tips, stories, and information to share.

From forgotten roadside wonders to hidden treasures in tiny towns, we look for the sites that make us stop.

So hold on tight and ride with me. We’ll take the strange, the surprising, and the downright amazing—a pit stop at a time.

Because the best journeys are more about where you don’t end up, and instead about the stories you find along the way.

Meet Zach

Zach The Driver

Zach is the driver, route planner, and overnight parking expert, meticulously planning each stop.

He’s the mechanic and shop man, repairing things and getting them running.

When he’s not under the hood, he’s walking the dog and cat whispering, keeping the furry brigade happy and satisfied.

In short, if it moves, parks, breaks, or barks—he’s your man.

Meet NancyNancy The Adventure Guide

Nancy is the tour guide, expertly steering the adventure—although it really depends on Zach paying attention.

She’s the tour guide to adventure, taking the group into the weird and unknown, always on the lookout for the next quirky attraction or hidden gem.

She’s the resource guru, finding the ideal places, hidden deals, and inside travel secrets.

And of course, she’s a proud owner of wild socks, bringing a dash of pizzazz with every step.

Most impressively, she can stretch a penny so thin that it pleads for mercy, showing that travel bargains don’t have to break the bank.

Of course, navigation is only going to fail if Zach doesn’t listen to Nancy—as well illustrated by the time he employed a car as an unforeseen bonfire.

Let this be a lesson for all future escapades: “Rule #1: Listen to Nancy… unless you enjoy traveling in flames.” 😆🔥
